D. K. T. Djokoto & Co.
Founded in 1950, our family-governed firm, administered by royals from its inception, has silently — through the intricate windings of life — remained at the axis of Africa's economic and political landscape. Since pre-independence Ghana, it has been our responsibility to manage affairs, providing objective and robustly independent advice to our loyal network.
From our genesis until now, we have lived through a polarised history of working for the betterment of Ghana in an ever changing and increasingly globalised universe. Our guild of elite advisers has the gilt-edged expertise necessary to provide sincere guidance on real estate, corporate affairs & public relations, arts & culture, and rural development to selected traditional royal houses, blue-chip businesses, ultra-high net-worth individuals, and public institutions. We also offer lifestyle and concierge services to our clientele.
We ultimately give our clients a God’s eye view of both Africa’s free market and political history — and craft solutions as unique as their genetics.
Expertise doesn’t happen overnight. As a data-driven intelligence-gathering think-tank — which strongly believes in the endless acquisition of knowledge, with an on-the-ground and down-to-earth approach to our exquisite pearls of research — we have, as embodied by our library, unrivalled intellectual capital, and an over seven-decade long track record of exceptional services.
Close, confidential relationships allow us to anticipate our customers’ needs — and, over time, we develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the circumstances, complications and arrangements of each client.
By devoting the attention required to ascertain the needs of our clients, we create, together, the conditions for ensuring success. This is key to delivering bespoke professional advice which complies with individual aspirations, broader regulations and which will stand the test of time. We protect the interests of our clients and provide them with a professional environment to share experiences, ideas and opportunities with like-minded people.
Few are built to last, so let our experience unleash the value of your company.
REAL ESTATE
Acquired over multiple generations, our modest portfolio of wholly-owned high-end residential property includes an immediate post-independence era villa at Cantonments, a townhouse in Airport Residential, a minimalist Ridge-based apartment, a 70s house at Dansoman estates, and a solar-powered residence at Airport Hills, a private estate — some of Ghana’s most premium locations — amongst other prime real estate, collectively worth a conservative £10m.
As temporary custodians of our persons and fortune and need, our ultimate responsibility is to ensure there is a secure structure to protect our real estate, so wealth can be passed from one generation to the next. Just as we’ve competently cared for our portfolio, since 1950 — steadily growing its value — we extend equal responsibility to the properties of our clientele, helping you manage and administer your real estate from a holistic perspective.
Our long-standing experience enables us to help you efficiently and work exclusively in your interests. Your one-stop partner for discreet property management, we work with you to safeguard your wealth and enhance the value of your property assets. Almost without exception, families have in common the need to plan the practicalities of passing the baton from one generation to the next and laying the foundations for an enduring legacy. This recurrent theme defines our approach and plays a key part in the day-to-day management of wealth and other family arrangements. We look after your assets for the long term, including planning for successions.
In addition to a relationship manager, responsible for the day-to-day management of a family’s requirements, each family has access to a ‘key adviser’ who is there to support the relationship manager for regular reviews and when significant decisions have to be made. The object of this is to bring a fresh perspective to the debate and to challenge thought processes, supported by extensive experience acquired through working with other families facing similar situations. Key advisers are, without exception, highly qualified, often with a background in accounting or law, as well as many years’ experience advising families.
Our clients have entrusted us with management and administration of assets in excess of £120m.
PUBLIC RELATIONS & CORPORATE AFFAIRS
In a shifting and complex world, we view the practice of public relations and corporate affairs as an art form. Our creative staff of wordsmiths, photojournalists, studio portraitists and filmmakers are versed in the kind of people-centred stories that amplify the track record of persons and institutions, not only during one-off events or news moments but between milestones.
Understanding the elements of reputational risk and, where necessary, developing a strategy of protection or mitigation is a vital component of long term wealth preservation. For families and business owners who have spent decades building a lasting legacy, safeguarding and managing their reputation is crucial to long-term wealth preservation.
In a society in which information jostles for space in short-lived flows, we channel the curiosities of targeted audiences to unearthed answers and untold stories trapped within institutions. We are devoted to establishing long-term, rewarding partnerships which add meaningful value to our network and stimulate intellectual development in our firm. With D. K. T. Djokoto & Co as your trusted advisor, you are guaranteed a continuous flow of fresh new thinking and game-changing ideas.
RURAL DEVELOPMENT
D. K. T. Djokoto & Co offers diverse curated opportunities themed on agribusiness, tourism infrastructure, education, media, and financial technology to corporates looking to invest in the Volta Region.
Our firm has thoroughly evaluated feasible industrial projects, and is prepared to invest in the growth of such enterprises. We also seek to establish professional societies and charities within the Keta Municipal District. Some of the projects on which comprehensive studies have been made are: millet, rice, dried fish, crabs, oysters, yams, beans, sugarcane, coconut, mat-weaving, wood fuel, boat-making, and net technology.
ARTS & CULTURE
We collect art and rare books and executive produce music. Our private art collection — which includes decades-old artefacts from around the African continent — and repertoire, reflect the almost poetic nature of our practice; a unique identity deeply rooted in the diverse sophistry of authentic African culture. Our artworks and library are ready to view by appointment.
We provide comprehensive services to private art collectors, foundations and trusts. Our value lies in combining in-house expertise with a trusted network of specialists. We have an independent position and our approach considers the life of a collection, from acquisitions to ownership to dispersal. Our hands-on approach gives us a thorough understanding of our clients’ collections: we know the size, weight and condition of each piece, which enables us to provide informed and accurate advice. The value of collections under management are an estimated £500k.
We manage collections of all sizes, tailoring the service to each client’s particular needs and objectives. Typically our services include:
Collection management:
• Cataloguing services.
• Art historical research and archive revision.
• Conservation strategy and regular inspections.
• Management of rights and reproduction requests.
